On Thursday this November, Spider-Man – No Way Home will be released. This same day, Allu Arjun’s new film Pushpa: The Rise will also be released. Last year there were a few films that were released on Thursdays too. One of these movies was Satyameva Jayate 2, which did so to avoid clashing with Antim – The Final Truth and take an early lead while it lasted. There is not much competition between these two films this week but Spider-man has chosen the date anyway because it needs the extra publicity push it can get when people are coming out of watching its first installment over again.
This film is predicted to be one of the most successful films for this year and has been eagerly awaited for months now. The first showing was at 11:00 am, but it will never come close enough to beat the opening day gross from Spider-Man: No Way Home’s solo showings. It’s grossed around 7.35 crores already so far. With a limited number of screenings and no other new release seeing its way onto screens across India besides Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, this film should bring in 15-18 crore rupees on Saturday alone.
As for Pushpa – The Rise [Hindi], it would have its fair share of work to do when it comes to marketing and promotions, seeing as its release isn’t quite that hyped up either. At one point in time, things seemed promising for this Allu Arjun starrer but somehow, something fell through the cracks along the way. Awareness around this film is also barely noticeable; so much so that even word of mouth won’t be enough of a means of advertising this movie. And before we even begin judging what sort of numbers will come from pushpa’s debut Hindi outing, there’s still the matter of whether or not it’ll manage to break even over here at home where big-budget films are never short on entertainment value.
