After being banned from theaters for the majority of 2021, due to the pandemic lockdown in India, many audiences were eagerly anticipating blockbuster releases. And now that this new year is coming to an end and Akshay Kumar’s movie Sooryavanshi has released; it seems like things are finally beginning to return back to how they were before. However, when looking at what advanced tickets sales predict about next week’s release of Marvel’s newest Spider-Man movie, it is clear that this film will most likely be a huge success financially speaking.
In this article, we take a look at Spider-Man: No Way Home’s debut during the first day of its release when compared to other Hollywood releases. In comparison to past MCU installments such as Avengers: Endgame (Rs 53.10 cr), it appears that given India’s growing love for comic book movies; they won’t be disappointed with their purchase of Spidey: No way home! Far exceeding records previously set by franchises like Fast and Furious and Hobbs & Shaw, this entry surpasses every film made in India so far.
While these are great statistics, what may interest you most is how well they’ve done when compared to international releases from abroad; considering how successful we Indians were with them (see stats above). If you’re looking for stats, here are some good ones but if you want my opinion – go watch the movie for yourself!
With advance ticket sales for Spider-Man: No Way Home so high and showing no signs of slowing down, the movie is expected to do extremely well during its opening weekend. With extra showings scheduled as early as 4AM on Friday night in some theaters, it’s possible that this movie can break even (or even go beyond) the Rs. 100 or Rs. 120 crore mark within four days time.
