83 is now the second Hindi release of this year to hit a hundred crore at the box office. They were followed by Sooryavanshi which ended its run after two decades and collected Rs. 196 crores so far. This weekend 83 passed the Rs. 100 crore mark with an accumulative worth of over Rs. 110 crore – but they had been gaining speed even before then, consistently doing well since their initial opening weekend (Rs=1.47 crores). Unfortunately, 83 is just shy of crossing one billion in revenue- when considered together for all languages including Tamil and Telugu dubs
Bollywood’s box office has been fairly unpredictable for the last two years; its biggest successes have come from 2 movies- Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, and Baaghi 3. In fact, Baaghi 3 had made over Rs 100 crores before it was shut down due to a pandemic! One of the six producers on Baaghi 3 was Sajid Nadiadwala who also produced Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior.
