Saaho opened to box office success in its Hindi version despite predictions. The film has done so well that Rs. 20 crores ($2,941) would be an estimated low estimate for the first day of total ticket sales if there are no further ticket sales from now until Sunday morning, July 29th. Comparatively, Baahubali – The Conclusion did about $14 million (Rs 113 crore) in its opening weekend when it released on April 28th this year, and 2.0 had grossed over $25 million (Rs 191 crore) during its Indian release week ending May 15th earlier this year.
Despite being dubbed into Hindi and having several actors with connections to Bollywood- Shraddha Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Jackie Shroff- many people saw Saaho as a product exclusively targeted towards audiences in South India only; however, here we are witnessing something unprecedented unfold before our eyes!
It was seen that the film – though receiving its fair share of criticism- managed to take an even greater opening than its predecessor, which had earned a whopping Rs. 20.25 crores on the first day. There has been talk about the movie’s lacklustre performance but it is true that business will go through the roof over this weekend due to advanced bookings from both Saturday and Sunday. And furthermore, many states will have holidays for being in celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday; adding significantly to how much money this movie has made.
