As predicted, Mission Mangal managed to hang in the third week too. On Friday, collections came out to be 1.50 Crores*, with 3.05 Crores being made on the previous day. Considering that Saaho had set a new record for itself on its first day – this drop was inevitable and even understandable given the circumstances.
The number of screenings were decreased as well – but this did not stop audiences from finding ways to watch Jagan Shakti’s latest release; it appears they’ll surely appreciate it even more over the weekend now that they’re able to see it again without having to wait so long!
So far, the film has collected Rs.179.6 crore* and with a good jump on the cards, an overall number in the range of Rs.185-187 crore is expected by the time the weekend is through. Moreover, there is Ganesh Chathurthi holiday on Monday and that could well help the film push itself further, and with some luck emerge as one of Akshay Kumar’s highest grossers*, surpassing 2.0 (Hindi) which had earned Rs. 189 crore*.
There are talks currently around whether this film will manage to enter the Rs.200 Crore Club*. Well, it could well turn out to be a touch and go affair*. Though it is almost certain that at least Rs195-198 crore will come in for this sci-fi family affair*, pushing beyond even 200 crores may prove difficult but if things work out right then nothing can stop this spectacle from making history.*
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
