Mission Mangal has stayed over the Rs. 2 crore mark on its third Monday as well, what with Rs. 2.50 crore* more coming in. Film’s Friday collections were Rs. 2.20 crores, so the kind of hold that it has demonstrated on a weekday is very good as the collections have increased – yet this can only be for now and nothing else; for Saaho – Hindi-language film directed by Soham Shah- challenged those numbers and took away some of Mission Mangal’s income because it had become people’s first choice while they passed up this Jagan Shakti-directed one altogether; but even then, Mission Mangal performed better than any other non-holiday day would have because of Ganesh Chaturthi Day–a public holiday–which led to an increase in revenue despite having lost money during weekends due to Saaho being released then too.
In light of these facts, it becomes clear that the collection for this Akshay Kumar-led movie would have been higher if less competition had existed in its run so far. Already at Rs. 189.70 crores*, the film will soon enter into the Rs. 200 Crore Club, but it could have gone even further than that had only one competitor -Saaho- not taken up space on theaters until now.
So while the film is undoubtedly a success thus far and will remain so until War arrives on October 2nd, it becomes clear there was potential to go much farther than what we see today given just a little more time without interruption from another movie; alas though, life goes on despite being interrupted with impediments such as these.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
