Chhichhore releases on Friday, and its stage and set-up are of a caliber that encourage word-of-mouth advertising. This strategy would work well commercially because the film is critically acclaimed– receiving positive reviews before its release even begins. When we then factor in the opinion of audiences, the public’s reaction will dictate whether or not Chhichhore succeeds, so we’ll just have to wait until Saturday morning to see how things turn out.
As for the Friday numbers, an opening in Rs. 5-6 crores range is expected given this film has three big stars including Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, plus it’s directed by Nitesh Tiwari who had also directed Dangal which was Bollywood’s largest grossing movie ever. Plus, producer Sajid Nadiadwala stated that Chhichhore was near and dear to his heart. As well as being a top producer himself, having just released Super 30 last year which managed to pull in over 150 million Rupees on just word of mouth alone.
This could be just what the team of Chhichhore has been waiting for, for this film to gain traction through word of mouth. After all, a well-made movie should catch fire with audiences once it starts playing in theatres on Friday night and continue gaining momentum over the course of the weekend.
