The successful movie Gangubai Kathiawadi was released last week on Friday. Since then it has seen a tremendous turnout in the box office! It started off roaring, but slowed down slightly over its first Saturday and Sunday in theaters. However, after Monday there was a surge of people coming for evening and night showings. This can be attributed to Mahashivratri, because most people were out celebrating outside all day instead of watching movies at home or work.
According to the trend, Gangubai Kathiawadi has seen an increase in revenue so far. Its four day total was estimated at Rs 47.31 crores and is expected to grow even more. In fact, trade estimates state that this film could make over Rs 64 crores in its first week alone- which would put it just behind Dhoom 3 as the second highest grossing movie ever!
Considering today (Tuesday) is a national holiday for almost every country, Gangubai Kathiawadi’s (film) revenues are expected to go up again today- especially since it has already earned so much before Tuesday. If trends continue at their current rate then Gangubai Kathiawadi should make about Rs 50 crores by day 5 (today) which would put it above 100 crores before Saturday comes around.
