A Hindi-language thriller film titled The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is proving to be unstoppable! In just one week since its initial screening this past Friday, the unprecedented success of this cinematic work has grown from revenue numbers hovering around four crore rupees (approximately US$600 thousand) at the opening on November 2nd to now seeing 27 crore rupees for day six (US$4 million).
It’s no surprise that after such a wonderful response from movie goers, new screenings for The Kashmir Files are taking place. Given the fervor for this film release so early in the morning or at night time slots, it appears there will be plenty of people who want to watch its captivating story unfold. Releasing in just 650 screens initially (later increased), The Kashmir Ops has seen an uplift when it comes to how quickly people are wanting tickets; while showing interest surpassing films like Tiger Zinda Hai (which made Rs. 17.55 cr), and raking up numbers over movies like PK (collecting $19.55) and Jab Harry Met Sejal (only managing around Rs. 15). It is worth noting though that recent launches like Baahubali 2 collected much more than anything The War Within could manage; having grossed about rs 26 crore for its opening day collections alone!
Now that the exciting weekend of Holi has neared, it is predicted that The Kashmir Files’ business will grow even more. As of now, according to projections from experts in this field, by the end of its first week there should be about Rs. 110 cr revenue for this film starring Anupam Kher; and at the end of its second running period after two weeks there is a chance it could reach an amount close to Rs. 130 crores (Rs. 1.3 billion).
