This is undoubtedly a significant moment in India’s cinematic history. After its ninth day, a film has already made its greatest daily sales to date. Not only this, but it also looks likely that the future days will see even greater success – whether today or tomorrow, it doesn’t matter because people are lining up around the block for tickets just to see this one of a kind movie. If you’re looking for proof that this is an extraordinary event, then look no further than these numbers: on Monday alone (Day 2), there was 10% increase in ticket sales and an estimated 20% increase for Day 3 (Day 8). The number doesn’t lie – this movie is breaking records left and right!
The film has done extremely well despite a big Hollywood production featuring Akshay Kumar called Bachchhan Paandey releasing as competition. Had there not been any competition, the Vivek Agnihotri directed film with holds-no-bar quantities would have made about Rs. 28 crores yesterday alone. Standing at about Rs. 141.25 crores now, it’ll easily pass the Rs. 200 crores mark before day’s end and continue to make loads more money before its second week closes out on us – quite handily too considering what little competition this movie has had to face so far!
Once it reaches that much coveted milestone – which is happening in such quick fashion that you’ll hardly believe your eyes – then it can start breaking records left and right after setting an all new standard for Bollywood filmmaking for years to come.
