The Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam released in China this week on 14th April 2022. The film which marks the return of Bollywood releases to Chinese screens opened on a decent note. However, unlike previous Indian films that have hit screens in China, it opened with low numbers; only earning USD 30,000 during its opening day.
Ranked 10th among the week’s releases, Drishyam managed to sell approximately 6,234 tickets. Contrary to what one might assume given recent Bollywood films’s performance in China, Drishyam released without much fanfare; opening on a rather sluggish note in this market.
Though it cannot be speculated whether or not the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit parts of China has been a factor for low sales, there are some reports suggesting increased business over the course of this weekend. Trade speculations predict that ticket sales will continue rising as moviegoers become aware of its release.
