Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is all set to return to the big screen within a month with the sequel of his 2015 release, Drishyam. The makers opened its advance booking for a day on October 2nd, and now, as the film is just a week away, full-fledged advances have opened on Saturday evening. Going by the data, Abhishek Pathak has gotten off to a good start in terms of advance booking. Of the total ticket sales so far (3 days), Bollywood chains such as PVR , Inox , and Cinepolis have sold over 35 thousand tickets each for this Friday’s opening weekend .The number you see here does not include online bookings made until Sunday morning; however it can still give you an idea of what we might be expecting come Friday night.
In spite of having only four days before it opens up in theaters, the advance for Drishyam 2 has already exceeded that of both Ajay Devgn’s recent films, Runway 34 and Thank God. And given the immense hype around this film – not to mention its cult following – it is expected to open with a strong showing.
Speaking about Ajay Devgn’s recent release, Thank God, it sold around 12,000 tickets in the three leading chains- PVR, Inox and Cinepolis. This ticket count is less than his previous films- Raksha Bandhan (19.5 lakh), Prithviraj (14 lakh) and Shamshera (8 lakh). It appears that while fans are eagerly waiting for this film still they can’t afford to miss work or school because it releases on Thursday. Main cast members will return but Akshaye Khanna will be playing a police officer.
