Ajay Devgn’s latest thriller Drishyam 2, has scored the second biggest advance of the year for an outright Hindi film. The movie has clocked an opening day advance of Rs. 6.50 crores nett, which means before it even premiered it had already made six and a half crore rupees! Of those six and a half crores, about two point eight crores came from Mumbai’s leading cinema chains; PVRs, Inoxs and Cinepolis! This is way better than other Hindi movies like RRR (Hindi), 83 (Hindi), or Bhool Bhulayaa 2 (Hindi)! It also looks like Ajay Devgan’s new release will rank as one of this season’s highest-grossing films so far! With only fifteen crores being its original target up until last week, now it seems possible for his newest release to earn nearly twice that amount just on its opening weekend!
The new trailer has reinvigorated the series’ popularity. Vijay Salgaonkar and his compelling story of Drishyam have been received well by audiences living in big cities such as Mumbai and Delhi, who are eager to see this sequel. Initial buzz about Drishyam 2 is encouraging and so we anticipate a large audience for this movie over the weekend. We estimate that there will be an opening day collection of Rs 50 crores or more for this Ajay Devgn film.
