The opening day box office numbers for Street Dancer 3D showed an increase from Friday to Saturday. The estimated revenue on the second day was around Rs. 13,000 – 15,000. Taking into account that this movie appeals to young people throughout the country with a decent amount of money spent in smaller towns (mainly T1), it would be safe to say there is still potential for this film to do well internationally and domestically if expectations are met.
The Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhudeva film will see a significant increase in the earnings tomorrow due to there being no school or office due to Republic Day happening on Sunday. The revenue can skyrocket and even reach 20 crore rupees, but it would still result in only an average opening weekend and the film needs to pass the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday tests at the box-office if it wants any chance of breaking even.
The movie Panga saw an increase in earnings due to a good reaction from its target audience and strong word of mouth on the first day. Saturday brought an estimated earning between Rs. 4.75 and 5.75 crores, around 150% more than Friday’s earnings–a sign that the film is accepted by many people now (though this may change depending on what happens Monday). The business increased at most theaters; so while it might only last until tomorrow morning we can still feel relieved for now because things are going much better than we expected them to go when we started out! If Sunday turns out well too, then the total for three days should be about 15 crores+. Monday will tell us whether or not Panga will end up being successful financially though; if past records are anything to base future projections off of then I’m pretty sure Street Dancer was at least profitable after two weeks.
With Tanhaai receiving rave reviews from critics, the film has done well over the past three days. Early estimates predict that Tanhaai will earn an estimated 8 crores on its third Saturday, which would make it one of the biggest films this weekend. If projections are correct, Tanhaai could touch the 250 crore club sooner than expected- potentially even earning up to 15 crores on Sunday alone.
