Love Aaj Kal, which was met with mediocre critical reception, has been an abject failure at the box office, earning a measly Rs. 36 crores in its first week. Its first day grossing of Rs. 12.40 crores may have been encouraging, but it failed to garner further traction thereafter, as audiences opted to give the movie a miss. With its tepid run expected to continue through the second week at best, it is clear that Love Aaj Kal is destined to remain a theatrical disaster
Malang made a noteworthy performance in the second week with an additional collection of Rs. 13 crores*. Although it would have been beneficial if it stayed above Rs. 15 crores as it would have raised its lifetime collections to Rs. 60 crores, the current tally of Rs. 53.50 crores* suggests that the film directed by Mohit Suri will most likely settle in the Rs. 58-59 crores zone, which is a fairly satisfactory outcome.
The prospects for Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior in its sixth week seem very positive with the box office collections crossing Rs. 5 crores*. As of now, the total collection is Rs. 274.50 crores* and the number looks all set to climb further. With still a few screens and shows for the movie in the running, it looks highly likely that the lifetime collections of the film could reach a remarkable Rs. 279-280 crores, earning it the status of a Blockbuster.
