Panipat had a slow start at the box office, earning only Rs 4.12 crores. Although this column predicted it would take in around Rs 5 crores on opening day, the reality was lower than that expectation.

Had it not been for competition from Pati Patni aur Woh, this picture could possibly have risen by as much as 70%-80%. However, since its competitor has seen solid success already, the most likely increase is a more modest 50%.
Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Sanjay Dutt have put a lot of work into this film. As a quality piece of work that chronicles an essential part of India’s history, it deserves to be watched by many. If it had been given a different release date with no other competing movies in the same weekend, its success would be far greater. Now all eyes are on where Panipat will end up over the course of the remainder of the weekend.
