Mardaani 2 collected an approximate Rs. 7.8 crores in one day, doubling its Friday earnings of Rs. 3.8 crore according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh twitter account. His opening-day earnings was approximately what analysts predicted it would be, but the film has gained momentum since then and is poised for a successful run after strong positive word-of-mouth reviews from critics who have seen the film so far; they all seem to agree that this year will belong to Rani Mukherjee again!
For Rani Mukerji, this is her third success as a protagonist in leading movies where she plays the central character. Mardaani and Hichki both did well at the box office, so it will be interesting to see how Mardaani 2 fares when it comes out next month. The movie has relevance for today’s world and ought to attract an audience of viewers because of its timeliness.
So far, the director of this movie Gopi Puthran has earned Rs. 18.15 crores and it is most likely that this means his work here is complete for this drama thriller. The first week should be up to nearly Rs. 30 crores at this point because if it continues at this pace, who knows how high it will go? There’s just one hitch – Dabangg 3 releasing next Friday which doesn’t bode well for Mardaani 2 but otherwise, she would have been a shoe-in for the important milestone of being worth Rs. 50 crores by now with no trouble whatsoever!
