Mardaani 2 managed to secure Rs. 28 crores* in its first week of release, starting off relatively slow but managing to pick up momentum over time. With a particularly high viewership on Saturdays and Sundays – it is unsurprising that the movie did not drop much from its initial excitement levels for Monday onwards as well.
Collections were between Rs. 2-3 crores over the weekdays, though they could have been better if we reached Rs. 3 crores at least on Mondays and Tuesdays. This would have made it easier for the film to cross Rs. 30 crores in its first week too; however numbers are a little lower than expected.
The numbers were still decent considering that the movie never had much hype before its release. But I expected it to cross Rs. 50 crores because of how well-made it was; which leads me to believe that this might be one of the first movies coming out this year to do well. Hopefully, those predictions don’t fall through because there are other movies coming out soon such as Dabangg 3 and Good News too.
