Dabangg 3 has released to the box office, opening quite successfully and entering the Top-5 highest grossing openers of the year. While it hasn’t broken any records, its opening is still commendable, given that it is helmed by Salman Khan and was expected to do much better with the level of anticipation it had created. Remarkably, this is only one of five films in 2019 that have managed to have such an opening, making it an incredible feat.
This is how the biggest opening days of 2019 look like:
War – Rs. 53.35 crores
Bharat – Rs. 42.30 crores
Mission Mangal – Rs. 29.16 crores
Dabangg 3 – Rs. 24.5 crores
Saaho – Rs. 24.40 crores
Kalank – Rs. 21.60 crores
Kesari – Rs. 21.06 crores
Kabir Singh – Rs. 20.21 crores
Gully Boy – Rs. 19.40 crores
Housefull 4 – Rs. 19.08 crores
The film has overtaken the three K movies- Kalank, Kesari, and Kabir Singh. But, it still trails significantly behind other notable movies of the year like War and Salman Khan’s Bharat, which both gained a position in the coveted Rs. 300 Crore Club and Rs. 200 Crore club, respectively. Furthermore, it has only managed to exceed Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and has notched the same box office numbers as Saaho, reaching a modest Rs. 150 Crores yet failing to amass even 100 crore rupees.
For Dabangg 3, the aim is to hit Rs. 150 crores in box office collections. Dabangg 2 had an incredible lifetime collection of Rs. 156.50 crores, and as it was so popular, Salman Khan will strive to either surpass that record or come close to it.
