Salman Khan would be feeling mixed emotions right now. Earlier this year Bharat had shattered all of his previous box office records, but with the release of Dabangg 3 he was really disappointed. He thought it was one of his most successful films to date – but only ranked number nine! Furthermore, Bodyguard had released years ago and still managed to rank higher than him.
So far, over the past few years, Salman Khan has succeeded at making Rs. 100 Crore films – evidenced by 14 of his films hitting this milestone. What is astonishing about this achievement? Every single one of them were consecutive 100 crore hits with no speed bumps whatsoever. This streak will continue into Dabangg 3; we’re excited to see how much more they can accomplish!
As it turns out, even the much maligned Race 3 had opened to better numbers than Dabangg 3 – and the only film of Salman Khan in recent times to have done so worse than this is Tubelight. That movie has amassed Rs 21.15 crores but while this figure may seem impressive at first glance, it is nowhere near what we expect from someone like him who enjoys such immense star power.
Here is looking at the first day collections of last 15 Salman Khan starrers:
Bharat – Rs. 42.30 crores
