With Dabangg 3 being released, it was inevitable that Mardaani 2 and Pati Patni aur Woh will lose screen space. The former has been running for two weeks now while the latter has three left to go. All these movies are doing well due to lack of competition from other movies-Dabangg 3 included- but only had they been given more time, they could’ve brought in a lot more money.
Mardaani 2 earned an additional Rs. 1.15 Crore and this caused the total collections to rise to Rs. 29.20 Crores – which is just amazing! For today, we can expect a great turnout as well; especially considering last week’s trend when we saw Friday-Saturday’s gross increase by 31%. With its core audience consisting of mainly moviegoers from India’s metropolitans, Mardaani 2 should receive an influx of people over the weekend.
On the other hand, Pati Patni aur Woh managed to make an impressive impact on its opening day alone; even managing to sustain a solid 1.5 crore* during its third week in theaters! These phenomenal numbers are what put Pati Patni Aur Woh’s total earnings up to 77.60 crores*, which is quite impressive for it being only two weeks old!
Both Mardaani 2 and Pati Patni aur Woh achieved this feat. They are now added to the list of profitable movies that Bollywood has had so far this year.
