Though this is a period of partial holidays because we’re between Christmas and New Year Eve, Dabangg 3 isn’t making much money. There was an impact for the first few days due to protests but then there’s the matter of content – which does not favor Dabangg 3 over Jumanji or Mardaani 2 at all. On one side there are some successful films like Good News or even holdover releases like Jumanji: The Next Level and Mardaani 2; but on the other hand Dabangg 3 struggles just to break even each day when compared with similar films like Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz or also Alia Bhatt’s Raazi
The film collected Rs. 3.5 crore on Friday, which is already a low number for its opening day when considering inflation rates for movies these days. Now that the numbers continue to drop throughout Sunday and Monday, it will be interesting to see if it can recoup from its losses during the second weekend.
As of now, the film has amassed Rs. 133.38 crores* and should ideally have been its first week gross at least for this Salman Khan starrer. However, there’s enough speculation out there about what people think of its performance – be it positive or negative – and we’ll just wait to see how the actor-director duo responds to this feedback with their next release Radhe on Eid ul Adha (which we’re expecting will make over 200 crores).
