According to Good News, the new year holiday proved fruitful for office workers across the country, who then went back to work on January 2nd after taking time off from December 31st. This allowed them to further capitalize and increase their foot traffic; even though it had been six days since they were last at work. As a result, there were higher sales numbers than what we saw before – around 22.50 crores (roughly $3 million USD) this week as opposed to 16.20 crores ($2 million USD) last week.
What is striking about the success of this Raj Mehta-directed film is how closely it reflects Saturday’s revenue at Rs. 21.78 crores (roughly $3 million). This suggests that moviegoers have seen enough to sustain interest until they’re able to watch it again – which indicates a lengthy theatrical stay for the flick.
Now that the movie has made Rs. 117 crore at the box office, its distributors are looking to keep this momentum going. They want a new release from either Rajinikanth or Salman Khan – just kidding! It could be Shah Rukh Khan but then again, he doesn’t need anyone’s help when it comes to releasing his movies even if they’re not big budget ones like most everyone else needs around here these days.
