In the last weeks of 2019, Raj Mehta directed Good News starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. It was a huge success from its opening weekend up until its release day. With rave reviews coming in for this film, it had all the potential for greatness – and became even greater than what many people thought it would be.
Here are the top five Wednesday openings at the box office out of all time, while also comparing these against what they would have been without Good Newz. With only 3100 screens releasing in North America, Good News has stolen the show from other high-ticket movies like Salman Khan’s kick or Aamir Khan’s Dangal and landed itself third place; earning 22.50 crore for being just behind Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that earned 26 crores and Dhoom 3 which had earned 25.52 crores.
Currently, there is little to no competition for this movie in its second week and it will surely make more money than before. In fact, an article about the film doing over Rs. 100 crores already is expected to do even better soon – maybe even crossing the Rs. 125 crore mark!
