Good News had a pretty stellar Thursday as well. It was the first day after being closed for New Year’s Day so theater attendance wasn’t as high, but even then it managed to bring in Rs. 10.8 crores – slightly lower than Monday but still higher than half of what Monday brought in.
The movie collected Rs. 127.90 crores and ranks near the top of first-week box office totals for 2019. Its earnings are close to those earned by Dabangg 3 (which also had a strong holiday period), which grossed Rs 126.55 crores after opening on more screens (24500) than this one (13800).
The new Bollywood movie starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani is doing great so far and has a chance at making it big. With the signs indicating that this film will go on to become successful just like its predecessors, it seems likely that this newest release will join the Rs. 200 Crore Club. It would be the first time ever that someone has had three Rs. 200 Crore Club movies in one calendar year.
Meanwhile, at the same time, producers Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar could only smirk from ear-to-ear as they had now scored another major success in Good News after Kesari.
