Good News has overtaken Dabangg 3 after a week long battle in the theaters. With one hundred twenty-seven point ninety crores, GK is slightly ahead of DB3’s one hundred twenty-six point fifty five crores. At first glance GK seemed to have started off at a lower number than DB3 with only seventeen point fifty six crores earned during opening weekend; however it wasn’t too hard for GK to come out on top when you look at how many good words were said about this film when compared to DB3s lukewarm reception.
This is how the first seven days numbers look like for the top openers of 2019:
War – Rs. 238.35 crores
Bharat – Rs. 180.05 crores
Kabir Singh – Rs. 134.42 crores
Housefull 4 – Rs. 129.35 crores
Mission Mangal – Rs. 128.16 crores
Good Newwz – Rs. 127.90 crores
Dabangg 3 – Rs. 121.58 crores
Saaho – Rs. 116.03 crores
Kesari – Rs. 108.86 crores
Gully Boy – Rs. 100.30 crores
Total Dhamaal – Rs. 94.55 crores
Gandhi Jayanti was a huge release this past Friday with war coming in first place. Although September has just begun, Eid is also proving to be very big so far with Bharat holding its own as well. Due to Diwali celebrations, Housefull 4 was able to do well too but among all the releases this past week, Kabir Singh and Good Newz were ranked number one and two respectively.
What is also worth mentioning about these films are their Box Office success. All four of them have managed to find a spot in the Top 10 charts. Movies such as Good News, Mission Mangal, and Kesari all exceed Rs. 100 Crores gross revenue during their opening week – an impressive accomplishment for any movie! Housefull 4 even surpassed the Rs.200 Crore mark! And while Kesari hasn’t done so yet, it still has plenty of time left before its release date, which means there’s still hope for this film to become just as successful at the box office too!
