For the first three new releases of 2020, nothing deserved any applause at all because none of them gathered so much as a single fan. It didn’t come as a surprise since these movies weren’t generating any hype among audiences.
Bhangra Paa Le was delayed by two months due to unforeseen circumstances. When it finally arrived, promotions were limited, which seemed to affect the film’s box office performance. Sab Kushal Mangal made some efforts when Akshaye Khanna agreed to act but there still wasn’t enough awareness about the film among viewers who were only vaguely aware of its existence; and most didn’t know about Shimla Mirchi which had a five-year delay before release and practically no promotional campaign at all – ultimately going unnoticed by many.
All of this, coupled with the fact that Good News is doing well and Bhangra Paa Le and Sab Kushal Mangal had screenings at some theaters means that Shimla Mirchi was given such little attention. A mere formality. With no critics out there to watch or review these films, we can assume that they weren’t very good – because people sure weren’t eager to see them on opening day! And if they were underwhelming enough to not make much money in one week time even when combined then what makes you think they will do well over the course of a weekend?
