Recently, there has been an increased demand for new films such as ‘Good News’. Ever since it’s launch last year, not only are audiences fond of Raj Mehata’s directorial venture but so too is Mr. Kumar himself. It should come to no surprise then when I say that Khiladi Kumar is one of the most popular names in Bollywood right now. He has seen his fair share of successes even before this- but never like this! As you can see from the records he holds onto firmly with two other noteworthy successes behind him, Akshay was able to break India’s box-office record when his newest release made over 700 million rupees ($10 million).
With four films this year (Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and Good News) Akshay Kumar has already collected 700+ crores in one year at the box office. Interestingly enough, with his most recent film Good News grossing over Rs. 100 crores within six days since its release, Akshay has risen to become an actor with the highest-earning films per year on record so far. Coming in second place is Ranveer Singh with a cumulative earning of Rs. 542.46 crores from two films released last year while third place goes to Salman Khan who made Rs 500 crores off of two films released in 2015.
Top 5 Highest cumulative in a single year
Akshay Kumar – 4 films – Rs. 740 cr. [expected final tally] – 2019
Ranveer Singh – 2 films – Rs. 542.46 cr. – 2018
Salman Khan – 2 films – Rs. 530.50 cr. – 2015
Prabhas – 1 film – Rs. 510.99 cr. – 2017
It was no surprise that Hrithik Roshan’s latest release- making an astonishing Rs. 464.85 crore in just two weeks! -was such a hit, given his long history of successful performances. And while it may seem impressive enough to make it onto the list of India’s top actors with the highest revenue per year, Akshay Kumar has stayed there for all of ten years now!
