There is no stopping the people who are dying to see Good News. The film enjoyed a tremendous Saturday at the box office – approximately Rs.11.70 crores! This is fantastic considering how great Friday (Rs. 8.10 crore) was too, and it showed such an explosive increase of almost 50% over just one day! For a big blockbuster film to do this while still managing to make so much money is really amazing; that jump specifically has set up Raj Mehta’s directorial just right for success.
The film has already collected 147.70 crores, and by the end of the weekend it will easily surpass 160 crores. From there on its trip toward the 200-crore club would be an easy task; most of the load was taken care of long ago – though not without some trouble. Actually, based off how well this Akshay Kumar movie is doing so far – it won’t just become his highest grossing one yet, going past Mission Mangal [202 crores] and Housefull 4 [208.50 crores], but also potentially challenging Bharat itself that amassed 210.07 crores while running in theaters for two weeks less than Trivikram Srinivas’ magnum opus did before finally being pulled out due to lackluster ticket sales.
It’s no surprise that the Karan Johar-backed film was anticipated to be a hit, but to enjoy such unprecedented success wasn’t something that anyone would have predicted. And with his next collaboration – Rohit Shetty-directed Sooryavanshi – it’s clear that expectations are going to reach new heights when it premieres on March 27th.
