Partial work weeks are working out for Chhapaak up to some degree. Even though the revenue has been less-than-satisfactory, it is still an improvement from before when it would fluctuate wildly and unpredictably. And since the number has reached a stable maximum of Rs. 2 crores thus far and on Wednesdays we see around Rs. 2.61 crores coming in – we can say that there has been no decline so far from Tuesdays’ collection of Rs. 2.55 crores (these were higher than Mondays’ which stood at about Rs. 2.35 Crores).
So far, the Deepika Padukone starrer has Rs. 26.53 crores and it should be closer to the Rs. 30 crores mark before the week is through. In the coming weeks however, Chhapaak will face some competition from Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior for audiences’ attention due to its high viewership levels which are reaching both higher income families as well as lower income families alike throughout this period of time.
Back in 2015, director Meghna Gulzar had released her Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Talvar. That film had collected Rs. 31 crores in its lifetime thus emerging as a successful project for them overall; but still unable to compare with the blockbuster success Alia Bhatt-starring Raazi enjoyed at box office earlier this year.
