Deepika Padukone-starrer Chhapaak managed to rake in Rs.19.02 crores at the box office over the weekend; however, Sunday was slightly less successful than expected with only Rs.7.35 crores coming in – which still constitutes an increase of about 20% from Saturday’s earnings of 6.9 crore rupees (Rs.)
Nonetheless, the film is now looking at stability ahead so as to register a decent lifetime total. Today is Lohri – one of my favorite festivals – which means there will be no school or work (and thus some revenue) in certain parts of the country. This should help the collections a little bit and hopefully keep this wonderful film playing for another few weeks! Nonetheless, if the movie only earns around Rs. 3-4 crores on Monday – even though it was predicted to earn up to Rs. 6 crores – then I think we can say that this movie has done well enough to last for many more weekends, thank goodness!
The film clashes with Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, but it is okay because they are from different categories of cinema. Moreover, Chhapaak is a multiplex movie and Fox Star Studios releases it well so that people will see it.
