After bringing in Rs. 3.75 crores on its opening day, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui managed to gather only another Rs. 2.15 crores over the course of Monday (bringing this total now to approximately 6 million). This is not what one would call an optimally successful streak for a film like this which had been met with modest success at best during its first weekend; but it seems audiences have yet to find their way back into cinema theaters – especially when it comes to movies that deal with such intimate themes and topics and even more so when there will inevitably be a larger release coming up (Spider-Man: No Way Home) later next week on Thursday afternoon, making events out of them instead of being forced onto a matinee screening where they’ll risk going unnoticed or unappreciated for whatever reason.
Nevertheless, after all is said and done, currently (after its theatrical release), the Azhaguraja Productions’ film, starring Vaani Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana has an approximated total earning of Rs. 16.68 crores. One can only wait to see what will happen in terms of earnings post hitting a profit margin of over Rs. 25 crores or so but for now, this movie was at the very least going to earn about Rs. 50 crores if released before pre-pandemic times.
