At the instance of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday, the production team behind Gangubai Kathiawadi are releasing a special teaser today. Sources tell us that with the teaser, they will also announce the release date for this much anticipated film. A person close to developments tells us that Alia Bhatt’s blockbuster will hit theaters on July 30th. Gangubai had taken into consideration many different possible release dates and eventually settled on July 30th as its premiere day, a source said.
It has been said from an anonymous source that there were doubts about the film being ready for a summer 2021 release because, according to the directors beliefs, it will take much longer than he initially expected. The second largest hurdle for Prabhas and Bhansali comes when it comes to adding post production work and special effects (which usually takes 10 weeks), but they feel they can skip them with less emphasis on such visuals so as not to postpone another four weeks production period.
