2020 which was predicted to be a stellar year for the film industry, has already proven itself as anything but. From attending figures falling drastically after multiple incidents such as a global lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic; it would be too optimistic to say that things will get better anytime soon. A few films did manage to release- and although most were unable to capture much attention from audiences, there were one or two successes. In this special report, we’ll take a look at some of the highest earning films at the international box office in Q1 2020.
Collecting USD 4.92 million [Rs. 36.83 cr] the Ajay Devgn starrer Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior claimed the top spot as the highest overseas grosser in the first quarter of 2020; following close behind are Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 3 with $3.30 million [Rs. 24.70 cr], Chhappak with $2.10 million [Rs. 15.72cr], and Street Dancer 3D with $2,04 million [Rs. 15,27cr]. Currently under lock-down until April 16th where we’ll see if these three new releases will also claim their rightful spots as well but so far industry projections state that people will take some time to go back out.
