Much has been said about the latest release of Street Dancer – starring Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi and Prabhu Dheva. The movie which released yesterday is directed by Remo Dsouza and it will be available in 3700 theatres across India. It received favourable reviews from many film critics before release, so expectations are high for this movie to do well on opening day.
We take a look at the opening day collections for Street Dancer 3D as compared to Varun Dhawan’s previous films. This film was able to beat out Varun’s last released Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania that had earned Rs 9.02 crores, becoming his fifth highest opening day earner of all time! Besides this film, business for Street Dancer 3D surpassed other releases like Sui Dhaaga which grossed 8.3 crores, Student Of The Year who netted 7.48 crores, Badlapur who earned 7 crores and Main Tera Hero who made Rs 6.60 crore for its first-day earnings – making it also one of the top ten fastest earning films in Bollywood history! As of now, Street Dance 3D is continuing to run in theatres while having gained some very favorable reviews from audiences so far – with many predicting even greater gains over the course of the upcoming weekend
NOTE: For the purpose of listing Varun Dhawan’s highest grossers we have not included the film Dilwale that had collected Rs. 21 cr on its opening day, since it did not feature Varun in a solo lead role.
