It was evident that Jayeshbhai Jordaar’s growth as a business owner was discouragingly slow, as he witnessed his revenue increase only slightly between Fridays’ opening of Rs. 3.25 crores and Saturdays’ income of Rs. 4 crores. It would not have been shocking if this trend continued until the end of his weekend; after all, audiences were largely disengaged on Friday and applauded him only moderately for what he created – both critically and personally. Yet, the collection did inch up ever so slightly which can be seen as an improvement but not one worth celebrating yet by any means.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness followed a similar trajectory – but it earned Rs. 3.25 crores* on Friday and an additional Rs. 4 crores* more on Saturday when compared to last week’s figures where the film took home just over Rs. 1 crore*. The difference here is that this movie will still earn money as long as people continue to see it; unlike most films which have already seen their earning potential realized by its opening weekend release, which started at nearly Rs. 30 crores*. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has yet to approach even Rs. 5 crore*.
While the action drama KGF: Chapter 2 managed to rake in Rs. 1.70 crores* more and is sitting at a total gross of Rs. 423.65 crores*, it does seem like this film might not be able to beat out other films that came out this week such as Jayeshbhai Jordaar or Doctor Strange (on Multiverse of Madness). Nevertheless, the movie has been doing well so far because other options are limited and will continue to do so until new movies come out again next week; which hopefully means that people won’t lose interest before then!
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited.
