The movie Panga will release on Friday. It has received generous promotion and is looking to build word of mouth among its target audience of families. Last year, Kangana’s Judgementall Hai Kya had also released; though it was heavily promoted and marketed, the first day collections were only Rs. 5.40 crores. Panga will be releasing without such aggressive marketing tactics but instead relies on people telling others about how good it is because there isn’t much advertising happening yet – so what you see in theaters may just be friends talking to each other about it (though this could also lead to low box office numbers). As if that weren’t bad enough, Street Dancer 3 will also be competing with Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior too! All three movies are vying for screen time (of which none will need a lot), but they’ll all compete for the attention of the viewer who wants something new.
Director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who successfully delivered Bareilly Ki Barfi is now returning with Panga. With her latest film being the first one with star Ayushmann Khurrana, it will also bring about another unbroken streak of hit and blockbuster movies for her. Considering how successful this new movie could potentially be, it should find itself in a decent standing if there’s an opening day collection of around Rs 3-4 crores already collected from ticket sales alone. It will then depend on how strong the story line is going forward that determines where this movie goes in terms of performance.
