It isn’t every month that we get a horror movie showing at the cinemas, since this genre is not explored to its fullest extent in Bollywood. Years ago, Ram Gopal Verma and Vikram Bhatt were quite regular in producing films of this genre, however they have recently calmed down. Vikram Bhatt made Ghost last year, but sadly it did not receive much attention.
It is indeed a fact that many years ago, Ram Gopal Varma directed the widely successful horror film Bhoot, a rare case of a star–driven picture popularizing the genre. Nonetheless, its continuation in Bhoot Returns failed miserably, ending the franchise. Nonetheless, Karan Johar is reviving the genre by releasing Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship, and there are high hopes for it to bring the genre to a more commercial level.
The film, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, boasts of a compelling premise: a haunted ship. The actor delivered an All Time Blockbuster in Uri – The Surgical Strike last year, leaving expectations high for another remarkable performance in this horror flick. Under the direction of Bhanu Pratap Singh, this film is expected to offer its audience plenty of entertainment. Its opening box office collection is estimated to range from Rs. 4-6 crores, however the movie is anticipated to grow in popularity through positive word of mouth and the quality of its content.
