This past week saw no new releases and was one which was dominated by an older film. Despite this, the Malang managed to collect RS. 3.25 crores which is more than what many were predicting before release for a weekday figure. So far, it has made Rs. 36.45 crores but will need to beat Mohit Suri’s last film Half Girlfriend (RS. 60.30 crores) in order to do well against other films like 2 States and Raees who have been doing great on the charts despite being released earlier this year. It may have made less money than Dhoom 3 did but at least it can say that they’re still among the top 10 highest grossing Bollywood films of all time!
Jawaani Jaaneman was able to beat the overall take of Baazaar by Saif Ali Khan, given it will most likely not surpass Rs. 30 crores* after all is said and done. The film made 0.60 crores* more this Wednesday, making its total currently sit at Rs. 26.42 crores*. For Saif Ali Khan, who has had trouble finding his feet up until now, he may have finally found his footing with Jawaani Jaaneman; though Shikara just couldn’t find its place in theaters – collecting an additional 0.4 crores*, adding up to a measly 6.35 crore*. It’s going to be near impossible for Shikara to reach even 8 crore*, since it seems like more of a late-blooming flower than anything else…
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
