Ananya Panday and Ishaan Khatter starrer Khaali Peeli released via appointment viewing on Zeeplex and DTH platforms considering the pandemic. Since theaters are closed, many filmmakers have opted for OTT releases; however this Maqbool Khan directorial has been released overseas in limited capacity as well. On Day 1, it was shown in US and New Zealand cinemas with not very good reviews. The production company seems to have made some critical mistakes when releasing the film domestically because they did not factor in world events such as Covid-19 pandemic which is causing people to stay away from movie theaters – which is what we see here as Khaali Peeli’s box office collections were disastrous!
In the US territory, Khaali Peeli made a total of 363 dollars from eleven screens with three theatres yet to report while averaging at 33 dollars per screen. In New Zealand, it grossed 419 dollars from seven screens and averaged at around 60 dollars each. Distributed by Zee International, this Indian movie has been released overseas in only few countries including the US territories, Singapore, Netherlands and Austria
