As one of the most highly anticipated films this year, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has only been out for two weeks so far – but it’s already breaking records. It took a whopping USD 688 million [Rs. 5345.34 cr.] globally during its first full weekend and continues to break records even now with its second week showing; being one of few films that made it into the top 10 list for all time highest grossing films.
With over $400 million worldwide (US$3076.68) and another $292 million domestically (US$2268.66), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ earnings were soaring to new heights. Surprisingly, though – it was only after digging deep into the data that this seemingly small detail was uncovered: while contributions from countries such as South Korea ($41.4M), the U.K. ($36.9M), Mexico ($31.1M), Brazil($25.1 M), Australia($19 M)India($17.7M)and France($17.5M)were what initially caught our attention – but it was in fact China that accounted for almost a third of these earnings at 31%! Inevitably, going forward, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to continue experiencing success abroad – so long as audiences maintain an interest in whatever comes next for Marvel Studios’ magic-wielding superhero!
