Dream Girl and Chhichhore have enjoyed two additional days of sustained success in their bid to break individual records, despite the theatre landscape appearing less lively due to a lack of new releases. These two films are responsible for sustaining any foot traffic, however slight.
Continuing its leading performance, Ayushmann Khurranna–starrer Dream Girl brought in a further Rs. 2 crores on Friday, thereby managing to keep the dip below control at Rs. 3.40 crores. As it stands, the Ekta Kapoor production has gathered up an impressive Rs. 129 crores and is headed for becoming the biggest grosser ever under Balaji Productions – if that isn’t enough, it is making solid strides towards outshining the lifetime number of Ayushmann’s finest movie yet, Badhaai Ho (Rs. 138 crores).
This week, Chhichhore by Sajid Nadiadwala is anticipated to break its own record of Super 30, currently standing at a massive Rs. 145.85 crores*. With an additional income of Rs. 1.25 crores* on Monday alone, the film is close to crossing the major milestone of Rs. 150 crores mark; securing its spot as another huge success from Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
Bollywood has certainly seen success this season with both of these movies; however, the challenge now is for War to be the one to rise above all and create a box–office smash.
