The Imtiaz Ali directed film Love Aaj Kal released yesterday to mixed reviews. Despite the mixed reviews, it’s only been 24 hours and all early predictions are proving accurate: the film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan opened on a good note with advance booking rates for its tickets going strong. And so, in this box office report we take a look at opening day collections of Love Aaj Kal while comparing it to Kartik Aaryan’s previous films – which all stars him alongside Richa Chadha. Collecting Rs. 12.40 cr, was able to surpass the business of his highest opener until now- Pati Patni Aur Woh that collected Rs. 9.1 crore*. Besides this, Love Aaj Kal has recorded better opening day collections than Kartik’s other films such as Luka Chuppi which earned Rs. 8.01 cr., Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 which earned Rs. 6.8 cr., Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety which earned Rs. 6.42 cr., Guest Iin London which earned Rs. 2.1 cr., and Pyaar Ka Punchnama which won only 0.92 cr (a minuscule sum). Now that it is still playing in cinemas, what remains to be seen is how people react to the film through word of mouth since there were mixed reviews about the movie beforehand
