The latest release of Saif Ali Khan – Rani Mukerji directed Bunty Aur Babli 2 which released on Friday has been drawing in significantly less audiences than expected due to lower-than-expected feedback from both critics and audiences alike. It made around Rs. (2/60)cr for the first day, although it did manage a total revenue of around Rs (6/20)crore after running for the first three days in theatres but given its current course and trajectory at the box office it does not seem likely to succeed now going forward.
Collecting an additional Rs.2.5 crore on Saturday and Rs.3.2 crore on Sunday, BUNTY AUR BABLI 2 managed to post Rs.8.3 crores for its opening weekend collections which is a disappointing turnout when put alongside the first film in the franchise that was released 16 years back in 2005- even if this figure surpasses it by a mere lakh or two, then again so does each individual citizen’s contribution to social welfare programs such as blood donation campaigns across India.
With single-day patronage hardly growing beyond marginal levels thereafter, we can safely assume that business would drop off over time with earnings only rising marginally over days to come before things take a turn for the worse which is what we are witnessing currently; gradually sliding below my own expectations which were extremely humble themselves- another deadlock at (a figure) of Rs 15 crores seems imminent given these increasingly troubling trends right now.
Bunty Aur Babli 2 box office collections:
Day 1 – Rs. 2.60 cr.
Day 2 – Rs. 2.50 cr.
Day 3 – Rs. 3.20 cr.
Total – Rs. 8.30 cr.
