The box office witnessed an awful weekend for new releases, as most of them bombed badly. Of these, Laal Kaptaan was particularly dismal and Saif Ali Khan’s career will see another film sinking under the Rs 10 crore lifetime mark – Chef, Kaalakaandi and now this. It’s unthinkable that such an esteemed actor has not been able to bring success, even with his best efforts to work across genres and prove himself in each production. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been rewarded with the same magnitude of results.
Vikram Bhatt’s Ghost presented an original concept, but it wasn’t met with a great turnout. As a low–budget movie, it was likely to make its money back in other ways – though there’s something special about big screen success. Now, all eyes are on whether or not the film can muster up a lifetime collection of 5 crores before its time is up.
The critically–acclaimed and thoughtfully–crafted P Se Pyaar F Se Faraar touched upon the controversial topic of honour killing. Unfortunately, due to its underwhelming release period, it failed to pull in many audiences at the box office. Although there are reports that some single screen theatres in northern India are still giving it patronage, the lifetime collections of this film are unlikely to exceed Rs. 5 crores.
Unfortunately, Yaaram’s release was not successful. While featuring some recognisable actors such as Prateik Babbar, Siddhanth Kapoor and Ishita Raj, the movie is expected to end up with a total gross of less than Rs.2 crores.
