The Sky Is Pink experienced a sluggish beginning in the box office, which was anticipated since the title of the movie had a specific vibe to it. The promotion of the film went well but surprisingly, not many people were aware of its release afterwards. It is rather surprising as this movie was backed by stars like Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, yet barely made any noise.
There was no surprise that the movie’s opening day grossed only Rs. 2.51 crores, not as low as some predicted but nowhere near a hit either. This year we have seen films that started slow but then saw a resurgence over time, but whether this will be true for The Sky Is Pink remains to be seen given the box office success of War featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. This has unfortunately taken away the much–needed breathing room needed by The Sky Is Pink to gain traction at the box office.
While the movie definitely had its moments and will likely be successful in big city theaters, it could have been an even bigger hit if it was given a more impactful name instead of something taken from literature.
