On Saturday, The Sky Is Pink had a rather unremarkable outing at the box office with its figures failing to gain any meaningful momentum for the second consecutive day. Earning Rs. 3.90 crores, though marginally higher than Friday’s total, the film needed a major jump in numbers over the weekend if it was to leave an impression post–release.
Although the reviews for this niche production have been satisfactory to favourable, it is nevertheless a disappointment considering the clout of its cast, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar. Consequently, more was expected of them given their standing in the industry.
The film has accumulated only Rs. 6.41 crores, though it is expected to pass the Rs. 10 crore mark by the weekend’s end. Despite having quality content suitable for urban multiplex audiences, awareness of the film and its offbeat title are proving to be an obstacle for it. Additionally, War being such a massive success doesn’t help either – so it remains to be seen if it will maintain its performance on Monday and beyond.
