Akshay Kumar’s Good News has taken a good opening at the box-office. The early showings did well but the movie found its stride by evening time and continued performing through late-night shows; clearly indicating that audiences were enjoying it.
In 2019, Akshay Kumar had four films release consecutively and all managed to stay in the Top 10 biggest opening days. Leading with the number 1 slot was Mission Mangal while Kesari falls under 3rd place followed closely by Good News and Houseful 4 right behind one another.
Let’s take a look:
Mission Mangal – Rs. 29.16 crores
Gold – Rs. 25.25 crores
Kesari – 21.05 crores
2.0 (Hindi) – Rs. 20.25 crores
Singh Is Bliing – Rs. 20.67 crores
Housefull 4 – Rs. 19.08 crores
Good Newwz – Rs. 17.56 crores
Brothers – 15.20 crores
Housefull 3 – Rs. 15.20 crores
Rowdy Rathore – Rs. 15.10 crores
What makes matters even more interesting is the fact that Good News has been trending ever since its release. It’s very possible that the movie will do well and surpass 2.0’s record of 63 crore rupees within 3 days. However, it’ll be a close race against Mission Mangal which has been one of Hrithik Roshan’s best movies yet.
The Independence Day release collected Rs. 70.02 crores in just 3 days time and it will be interesting to see if Good News, arriving on an uneventful Friday with no national holidays this week, can top that figure.
