The Body debuted with only 50 lakhs this weekend. With two such big names attached to it–Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor-even if people weren’t looking forward to this movie, they still probably expected at least 1 crore rupees at the box office – which is what was achieved by most recent films released that featured lesser stars. Clearly though, audiences had already decided before release day whether or not they wanted to see it.
There was little to no buzz about the movie and most people seemed unaware of it. The film also came out much later than planned, which left many feeling apathetic about it instead. Even though promotion for the film made promises of being an exciting suspense thriller, there wasn’t enough action after that for audiences to take note.
More importantly, given the lack of positive feedback from audiences or critics alike – The Body is bound to close its doors after a mere week.
