After a promising start on Friday, Bhediya was able to bounce back over the weekend for good profits shown on Saturday and Sunday. There was an increase in sales seen across both days which contributed to the new revenue totaling at Rs. 28.55 crores post the weekend. Had the numbers been closer to the Rs. 35-37 crore range it would have just seemed sweeter but still, we’re looking forward – not backwards – so as long as this upward momentum continues there shouldn’t be too many concerns overall.
The film collected Rs. 11.50 crores on Sunday, which was about 2x greater than what it had earned in its opening day (Rs. 7.48 crores). In order for the film to keep up this momentum – if not surpass it – from here on out, we will need similar figures or even higher numbers than those achieved so far (we cannot afford to see a decrease of 40-50%). If we can maintain at least a 50% growth rate until its completion date, then the movie will end up earning around Rs. 100 crores ($1 million) in its lifetime!
Meanwhile, the film that has been collecting rave reviews on all levels – Drishyam 2 – did exceptionally well yesterday too. As a result of this influx of foot traffic, Ra. 17 crores* more came in. These numbers are excellent considering the fact that first-day earnings were Rs. 15.38 crores and yet now on its tenth day of release, it is raking in more than what was seen from the beginning! Plus, this type of movie always plays well based off its solid reputation among audiences; which means there will be few setbacks leading to an otherwise smooth week ahead. As such, so far these box office receipts stand at RS 143 crore*, but they could easily reach over Rs 150 crore* by tomorrow morning or tonight itself! Considering what new movie Action Hero releases next Friday (Oct 12), whether or not Drishyam 2 can surpass these figures remains to be seen.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
